Abstract
Dating violence is a deep-seated issue that has significant impacts on its victims, especially among female stu-dents who live away from home. This study aims to explore the experiences of victims of dating violence using the pho-tovoice method, which allows victims to express their experiences through photography. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with six female students who live away from home in Malang, Indonesia. The results showed that dating violence includes physical, psychological, behavioral control, and sexual coer-cion. Identified risk factors include patriarchal attitudes, promiscuity, and lack of understanding of dating violence, while protective factors include positive self-concept and social support. The impacts include psychological trauma, social iso-lation, and obstacles to self-development. This study highlights the role of social media in normalizing violence and the phenomenon of silent toxicity in relationships. Personalized interventions and broader education are needed to increase awareness and prevention of dating violence.
