Abstract
Despite ongoing technological advancements, conventional learning media remain relevant, particularly in mathematics instruction. The results of the observation show that students often have difficulty understanding word problems and show a higher interest in learning when learning activities take place in a pleasant atmosphere. In response to these findings, this study aims to develop and describe a conventional fraction learning tool called TaBaCan (Fraction Comparison Box) and to analyze its effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing the ADDIE development model. Twenty-seven fourth-grade
students from MIN 1 Malang City participated. The researchers collected data through observation, interviews, questionnaires, pre-tests, post-tests, and documentation. The results show that: (1) The TaBaCan media was constructed using melamine plywood and wood, incorporating several supporting components, such as fraction puzzles, number boards, comparison symbol boards,
question cards, and guidebooks; (2) Three experts validated the media, awarding it a material validation score of 96%, a design score of 92%, and an instructional score of 96%; (3) Student learning outcomes improved significantly, increasing from 37.04% before the intervention to 81.48% after using the media. Thus, TaBaCan media proved to be effective in improving student learning outcomes in fractions
