Abstract

This research aims to find out the representation of women in the poetry of Imru’ al-Qays, based on the assumption that not all women in the pre-Islamic era lived without meaning, individually and socially. The researcher took the poetry of Imru' al-Qays as the subject of the research because it contains many descriptions of women. The researcher used the qualitative qualitative research method based on the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes. As for the result of the research, the woman in the poetry of Imru’ al-Qays describes with beautiful descriptions that indicate the high position of her, in addition to the fact that she receives good treatment in her family.
