Abstract

Formulation of mission and vision is an integral part of the strategic management process. In the context of Islam, management (strategic management) is a series of systematic steps that are social-economic-technical. This study examines the mission statement and vision in the perspective of the concept and vision of Islam and researching on the level of knowledge and understanding of the content of pernyataaan vision and mission and what degree of stakeholder involvement in the process of formulating the vision and mission.

The paradigm of the research study is a mixture (mixed method) is qualitative as well quantitative research paradigm. Data analysis data collection via questionnaires, data is processed and analyzed through descriptive quantitative research approaches. Tools of analysis using descriptive statistics, such as average, standard deviation, and percentages.

The content of the vision and mission statements, implicitly and explicitly contains the values of Islam. In all the nature futuristic vision statement, implies mashlahah, al-Falah, mas'uliyah, Caliph. But in terms of content, the vision statement is very varied, due to the views of the framers of the vision statement. Based on survey results, the majority of internal stakeholders feel involved in the formulation of the vision and mission statements, even many who do not understand and do not memorized. There are some vision statement is biased, not focused and not challenging. However, from the aspect of understanding, about 55% of internal stakeholders already understand the vision and mission statements.
