Abstract
This study attempts to make a rigorous empirical examination of the implementation of workplace spirituality in order to increase employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment in Islamic banking as an integrative approach. Quantitative approach is useful in examining the interrelationship. There were 125 Islamic banking employees in the city of Malang, East Java, Indonesia as sample. Data analysis used cross tabulation, t–test, analysis of variance, and structural equation modeling (SEM). The results conclude that variables of meaningful work, sense of community, and alignment of values as a dimension of workplace spirituality improved organizational commitment. Likewise, variable alignment of values and meaningful work increased job satisfaction. Sense of community variable could not able to increase employee job satisfaction in Islamic banking. Managerial implications, it’s necessary to build a solid team building in order to increase employee job satisfaction.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menjelaskan implementasi praktek workplace spirituality di perbankan syariah syariah Kota Malang dalam rangka meningkatkan kepuasan kerja dan komitmen organisasi karyawan sebagai suatu pendekatan integratif. Pendekatan kuantitatif berguna dalam menguji dan menjelaskan implementasi dimensi workplace spirituality pada kepuasan kerja dan komitmen organisasional karyawan perbankan syariah. Jumlah sample dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 125 orang karyawan perbankan syariah di Kota Malang, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis tabulasi silang, uji beda t-tes dan analisis varians, serta analisis pemodelan persamaan struktural (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel meaningful work, sense of community, dan alignment of values sebagai dimensi dari workplace spirituality mampu meningkatkan komitmen organisasi. Demikian juga, variabel meaningful work dan alignmnet of values mampu meningkatkan kepuasan kerja. Adapun variabel sense of community tidak mampu meningkatkan kepuasan kerja karyawan perbankan syariah. Implikasi manajerial berdasarkan penelitian ini adalah perlu membangun team building yang solid dalam rangka meningkatkan kepuasan kerja karyawan.
