Abstract
The growing necessity for internationalization has prompted education institutions worldwide to explore innovative language immersion programs that enhance linguistic competence while fostering intercultural values. Currently, English has become the most
important language of international communication and it is essential for business, science, and technology (Navarro et al., 2022). Thus, those whose native language is not English invest more effort into achieving language proficiency as which will allow them access to
further education, better jobs, and greater income(Rao, 2019).
Research by Hamzah et al. (2017) highlights that English proficiency is perceived as a gateway to various opportunities, including enhanced educational and economic prospects. As a consequence, there has been a growing emphasis on the learning of English
as a first foreign language in Asia and in several other non-English speaking nations (Ho & Wong, 2004). The globalization of English has further amplified the emphasis on its teaching and learning within the Asian context (Tight, 2022). Hence, English has become a language
skills that develop an individual‘s chances of success and their potential for achievement in the workplace, education, and research. Current educational systems in non-English speaking countries have identified that inclusion of the language within school, college and university curriculum can only work in students‘ favor by enabling them to compete and function within this globalized society. Therefore, English education has moved beyond linguistic competence to include fostering intercultural values and preparing students for internationalization recognition in academic and professional settings.
