Abstract

This study aims to describe the internalisation of social care values among students and its impact on the formation of responsible character in the modern era. The research method uses a mixed method approach with quantitative data collection in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 110 students, with data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and nonparametric test. Qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews with six informants from different universities. The results showed that social awareness was reflected in academic assistance, emotional support, social solidarity, and involvement in environmental activities. Factors that encouraged social awareness included family values, personal experiences, empathy, religion, and a positive social environment. The study also found that the internalisation of social concern values contributes to the formation of students' responsible character, as seen in their disciplined attitude, ability to uphold commitments, and awareness of maintaining trust. Academic activities, organisations, and campus social activities also strengthen the character-building process. The results of this study indicate that the campus environment supports the development of social values as part of character building for students in the modern era. Recommendations for further research include expanding the sample size, using direct observation methods, and strengthening additional related variables.
