Abstract
The author expresses his gratitude to God Almighty for His grace and blessings, enabling him to complete this book. This book is designed as a comprehensive guide for students, lecturers, and young researchers who wish to develop their academic writing skills, particularly for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students in higher education. The primary focus of this book is to equip readers with effective academic writing strategies, an understanding of academic integrity, and skills in utilizing digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) critically and responsibly. Academic writing is a crucial skill that students must master to convey ideas systematically, logically, and persuasively. However, many students face challenges in writing, ranging from difficulty constructing coherent arguments and choosing appropriate academic vocabulary to understanding academic ethics and citation techniques. This book addresses these challenges with a practical, systematic approach based on real-world university practice. This book is organized into nine interrelated chapters, starting from an introduction to academic writing, academic integrity and plagiarism, essay structure, academic language and style, critical reading, introduction and utilization of AI, writing abstracts, and revision, feedback, and reflection. Each chapter is designed to allow students to read gradually, understand the concepts, and immediately put them into practice through the included exercises, examples, and strategies. Additionally, a glossary, bibliography, and user manual are provided to make it easier for readers to understand technical terms, find additional references, and apply the material more effectively. The author hopes this book will serve as a guide to facilitate the process of learning academic writing, while also enhancing students’ critical thinking skills, creativity, and digital literacy. The author would like to express his gratitude to all those who provided support, input, and assistance during the writing process. Hopefully, this book will be useful for readers in developing their academic skills and writing with confidence in the digital and AI era.
