Abstract
The book discusses two central concepts; the relationship between interculturality and ELF (English as a Lingua Franca, and interculturality in ELF communication. The form of interculturality discussed is ‘renewed interculturality’(Holmes and Dervin 2016: 2–3) in that it avoids cultural essentialism and nationalism as points of reference, and focuses instead on the process of negotiation undertaken through actions, discourses and identities when people interact (see also Dervin 2014 for more comprehensive explanations of new interculturality).
