Abstract
The Arabic learning method in the homeschooling group is the direct method, which means that the teacher will speak Arabic without paying attention to how far the students have understood the lesson. This is the major problem in learning Arabic here, especially when it comes to the speaking skills. The main goal of this thesis is to understand the the implementation of role playing method in learning the skills of speaking in homeschooling group and to know about its effectiveness?. This thesis is categorized as pre-experimental designs/nondesigns research, using the quantitative approach, which was implemented in a class using the pretest-posttest (one group pretest-posttest design). The data was collected through observation, interview and test. The results of this research showed that the teacher acts as a scenario in learning, determining the learning competencies to be achieved, forming groups and models of student learning. Each student gets a turn to play the roles as specified and recorded a video, after the activity is held watching a video recording to be evaluated together. And the t-test is 14 times bigger than the t-table, with 1%=2.98 and bigger than 5%=2.14. Thus the hypothesis of this research was proved, resulting in H_1 could be proved and that the implementation of role playing method was effective in learning the skills of speaking.
