Abstract

Human resources are the most important asset for an organization, human resource management cannot be separated from employees who are expected to work as well as possible to achieve organizational goals. The decline in employee performance as reflected inproductivity fluctuations is a major challenge at PT Wijaya Karya Beton Pasuruan, with indications of low motivation, work discipline, and employee engagement. This study uses an explanatory research method with a quantitative approach to analyze the effect of motivation and work discipline on employee performance through employee engagement as a mediating variable. The research sample used saturated sampling technique involving all permanent employees of PT Wijaya Karya Beton Pasuruan totaling 93 people. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis with SPSS. The results showed that motivation has no direct effect on employee performance, while work discipline has a direct influence on employee performance. Employee engagement proved to be able to mediate the influence of motivation and work discipline on employee performance. This finding implies the importance of the role of employee engagement as a connecting factor in increasing the effectiveness of motivation and work discipline on employee performance
